As part of the continuum of care, recovery centers offer an intensive outpatient program (IOP) for people to transition into once they’ve completed detox and residential therapy. Intensive outpatient programs (IOPs) include both one-on-one treatment with highly trained therapists and regular group therapy sessions.
IOP offers a step toward independence so recovering addicts and alcoholics can look forward to their new lives. Generally, it is recommended that patients follow a linear approach to treatment in order to achieve the best results:
Detox › Residential › IOP › Sober Living
Flexibility for Individualized Treatment
IOP counselors tailor each treatment plan to the individual. This helps ensure that each person is getting what they need from the program, and counselors periodically review treatment plans to adjust according to new goals or events that may come up. For example, treatment staff encourage IOP clients to seek gainful employment and help them find jobs suitable for their stage of recovery.
