Did you know that your insurance rehab coverage may pay for treatment entirely? We accept most PPO insurance policies, and select HMO policies from certain providers. Some of the most common policies we take at Blue Coast are Blue Cross Blue Shield, Health Net, Aetna, Cigna, Anthem, Humana, Medical Mutual of Ohio, and many others.
What is Insurance Rehab Coverage?
Substance use disorder and alcohol use disorder are classified as protected medical diseases in the United States. That means that insurance plans have to cover the cost for treatment if a doctor or physician diagnoses an individual with either disorder. This is good news for those seeking help for addiction and alcoholism. It opens the door to treatment and getting on the road to recovery in a clinical setting. Although not all insurance plans cover all treatment facilities, there is an option for treatment somewhere. Our treatment counselors are able to run 100% confidential, HIPAA-protected verification of benefit checks to see if an insurance plan is covered here at Blue Coast Behavioral Health (or our detox/res facility that operates as New Start Recovery). Our phones are open 24/7: 714-203-2708
If a plan is not covered, we can arrange private pay or refer individuals to our network of other providers who can accept various insurance plans.
Insurance rehab coverage includes several levels of care:
- The first is detox which lasts from 7-10 days. This phase is the most intensive level of care because clinicians monitor vital signs and medications are distributed (under strict supervision) to assist with making withdrawals more safe and comfortable.
- The second level of care is inpatient residential which lasts from 30-90 days. Once individuals are physically stabilized from withdrawals, they are able to focus on therapy and learning the tools needed to stay clean and sober.
- The third is PHP/IOP (Partial Hospitalization Program/Intensive Outpatient Program) which is typically about 60 days, but it can be extended if needed. During this phase, individuals are free to go back to their normal lives with the support of outpatient therapy and random drug testing. We encourage those in PHP/IOP to reside in a sober living arrangement to prevent relapse and provide an extra layer of accountability.
